154. Eat crow and gain humility

Proverbs 13:2

“A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.”

What we say in this life as we travel around the sun at 67,000mph, does matter. We can save lives with words of encouragement. We can destroy lives including our own with angry and resentful words.

Eating crow is a colloquial idiom, used in English-speaking countries, that means humiliation by admitting having been proven wrong after taking a strong position.

Every day is a struggle for myself to use my words wisely. I am getting better after 40+ years of living, but I slip from time to time and I walk away from a conversation and think, “You idiot, why did you say that”?

If you say stupid stuff don’t punish yourself to hard. We are all works in progress. Asking for forgiveness helps to alleviate the guilt that can be produced afterwards.
