147. Instructions from a parent

Proverbs 2:01-02

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;”

Today’s proverb is telling us how we should listen and try to understand what we can. It is telling us to hide the wisdom so that we will not lose it. We should apply what we learn with all our heart and all of our being. We should not waver from what the voice inside is telling us what is write and what is wrong. This voice is wisdom.

146. The beginning of Proverbs

Proverbs 1:1

“The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;”

This is the very first verse of the book of proverbs, the book of wisdom. Going forward from this verse it lays out what the book was written for. The book was written to guide humans in the quest for knowledge.

When you have a chance today think about what it means to be wise. Think about how one should gain wisdom.
