104. “Trust but verify”

Proverbs 15:7

“The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so”

Today’s Proverb tells us that we shouldn’t tell others about things that we don’t know to be true. We shouldn’t repeat hearsay. We shouldn’t forward emails that we haven’t verified. We shouldn’t post articles as facts that we don’t know to be true.

I am human and I am flawed. I am guilty of the above. When we see or hear something that we agree with we send it out into the world because we want it to be true. “It sounds right in our mind, so it must be true”, we say in our mind.

Make an effort today to stop doing things like this. Do your best to verify it before sharing it. If you can verify it then don’t share it.

“Trust, but verify” – Ronald Regan

103. The strength of one is two

Proverbs 14:4

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Today’s proverb tells us that where there is no work being done things are clean. It also tells us that we need to rely on others who strength may be greater than ours on the task we are performing.

You can look at me and my wife as an example. She is very smart and well educated. She had a job when I met her that could have supported us both without me working. Yes she could make it on her own but, who would open jars with tight lids for her? Ha ha.

Oxen are animals of great strength. Many people owe the lives because oxen could till the ground on a greater scale than people could and could produce more food to feed the masses. We need to lean on the people of great strength from time to time. The strength may come from a group of people. Two is one and one is none comes to mind. We get more done when there is more than one.

On the spiritual side of things, we need to give our problems to the Omnipotent one. We should just stay busy and not worry so much. When we have problems in life we should pray and give it up to the Alpha and Omega. Then plan based on our prayer and start executing the plan. Remember faith without works is dead.

“The shape and solutions of the future rely totally on the collective effort of people working together. We are all an integral part of the web of life.” — Jacque Fresco

102. Bring peace unto your life

Proverbs 13:4

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

We all deep down inside our souls seek peace. How do you get more peacefulness? You stay diligent. The very definition of diligence is: careful and persistent work or effort. This means that each and every day we should do the following: Learn something new, do something to make your life better, and rest and reflect. Sounds like the three things that Nicole Sauce proposed everyone to do every day so that you get the important stuff done every day.

By learning something new every day you free yourself from having to wait to have something done for you. We are very lucky to live in a world where we can google how to do something hit enter and there are many different web pages on the very subject. Also, by learning something new we can teach others. You get to pass on a little of your conscious to someone else. It is reproduction in a sense.

By doing something to make your life better you well get to make your life better ha ha. You should work smart and not hard. By growing your own vegetable garden, you get to walk outside and do your grocery shopping without leaving your home. By planting your own herb garden, you get to add more taste to your food. You should also do things to prepare for disasters that can happen in your life. Storing food, having electrical back systems, and having the ability to always provide clean water for your self will make your life better when bad things do happen.

By doing the first two things your soul will be satisfied. You will be able to relax at night when you take your 8 hours of rest. If you only think and talk about it then if will surface when you lie down at the close of the day and try to sleep. Don’t waste this precious commodity of time get it done so you can relax and reflect and sleep.

“The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul. – Alfred Austin

Raised Bed Project

On the west side of my house I have just scorched grass growing in the summer except for the grapes I planted last spring. I had some things growing way out of Zone 1 and my wife said she wouldnt help me keep it watered unless I moved it closer. So this area isnt doing anything and for my fall winter project I am installing four raised beds that are 3ft X 16ft long. At our local hardware supply they sale treated corral boards which are true 1″ X 6″ X 16ft. I used them for the walls of my raised bed. I bought treated 2″ X 2″ X 42″ balsters for the stakes to hold them in position. I used exterior wood screws to fasten them into position.

The soil is clay that was dug out of the ground to build my house pad. It isn’t that great for growing things except Bahia grass. I will build the soil with organic material over the winter and hopefully will get decent production out of the beds next spring. Updates coming soon.

101. Compensation by the fruits of yourself

Proverbs 12:14

“A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.”

We should always try to say what is right and use the knowledge that we have gained in our lives when we speak. We should also speak as kindly as possible or in a way that is helpful. We should also work for what is needed by ourselves and to help those within our circle of influence.

When we share with those with in the circle of our influence we help ourselves at the same time. Think of it as helping your children to eventually one day be able to support themselves without your help. I see a lot of children who are in their 30’s who still can’t fully support themselves and I will go no further so that I don’t upset anyone.

Do good with your words. Do good with your hands. In many customs it states that what you give you get back in some instances 10 fold.

“Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.” ― Khalil Gibran

100. Sleep better at night.

Proverbs 11:17

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh

If you want to sleep better at night, then always try to be the better person. When dealing with others of human genetics it can be hard to determine if we are doing the right thing. Things we can do is:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

When confronted verbally deescalate the situation

Agree to disagree.

Always be merciful no matter how hard it is.

If there are doubts and if there are they will surface while trying to go to sleep. Write them down on a piece of paper so that you remember to present them to the Most Merciful for help on the mater.

In the end all we can do is what we know is right. If we know that we did everything every day to be good to others and we did as what we wanted done to us, then we can sleep better.

It is a common experience that a problem difficult at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it.

John Steinbeck

99. Circle of influence

Proverbs 10:4

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

It is Monday, so it is time to get off of your butt and do something. Remember you can only change what is in your circle of influence. If we get caught up in the news of things you can’t change, then seeds of doubt and self-pity will grow. The MSM news is like miracle grow for these seeds. If you watch the MSM too much you will have a forest of doubt and self-pity and you will be stuck in the middle. Get out and change something in your life, that you have the ability to change, like grow some food.

98. Rest & Reflect

Proverbs 9:2

“She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.”

Today is Sunday and a day of rest. Today’s Proverb is wisdom telling us to get things done before we take a break. The human life is a constant struggle. There will always be doors that open and close in our pathway of life. We have 8 hours for rest everyday so use it to rest and reenergize your body. Use the other 16 hours to make your life better both financially and mentally. Today being a day of rest so relax and use it to reflect on what you have done in the last six days to make your life better and make goals for the next six days to make your life even better.

“It’s very important that we re-learn the art of resting and relaxing. Not only does it help prevent the onset of many illnesses that develop through chronic tension and worrying; it allows us to clear our minds, focus, and find creative solutions to problems.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

97.Don’t be insane

Proverb 8:5

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Today’s wisdom from the past is a call out to all the people who are ignorant of wisdom and understanding. It is begging them to listen. As time goes on and on human beings seem to keep making similar mistakes. I was listening to a short video clip on Instagram titled Spirko’s 3rd law of life-“Everything in the universe is a recurrent cycle. If you decide to listen to it be warned it has strong language. I am grown up enough to listen to it and take the meaning and not be butt hurt by the words. Be warned you may not be. Why do people keep making the same mistakes over and over and over and over? I am not totally sure, but I think it has to do with pride, the deadliest sin. You know that it has been done many times before and has failed, but you think that you are better and can make it work. Don’t make the same mistakes again and again.

“From the standpoint of the psychology of personal constructs we may define a disorder as any personal construction which is used repeatedly in spite of consistent invalidation.”

George A. Kelly
