Where are you going in life?
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:”
We all have things in life that we need and want. Your basic needs are easily obtained currently. What if you were in a situation where this isn’t the case. Let’s think about Survival rule of 3’s:
You can survive 3 minutes without air
You can survive 3 hours without shelter in a harsh environment
You can survive 3 days without water if sheltered
You can survive 3 weeks without food if you have shelter and water
If your world falls apart could you supply the above with what you have around you? You may not be able to now, but you can learn how to and with a little preparing you can have items that can help you provide these in the event of an emergency. Remember knowledge is very light and requires no strength to carry. Work smart not hard.
Today stop fretting and do the following: Have an Emergency GO bag at your house. Have an emergency GO bag in your vehicles.
PS: I will admit when we took my son recently, to have a MRI that it would lead to a two-day hospital stay for more test. I at least did have a backup plan for picking up my daughter from school. Thank GOD for parents who live close by. I will use this to get my wife better prepared in the future. It won’t seem so doomsday irrelevant now. I know I know I should have been ready, but I failed. I learned my lesson hopefully.
“Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge”
If you’re not learning, then you are not living. Our brain is basically a computer. It is constantly taking in inputs from the outside world and processing them. It may be as simple as its cold and you need to put on more clothes. In life there are more difficult tasks that need to be completed for your benefit that take more time and inputs for you to fully learn it. When you fully learn something, it will become natural. That is why we have fire drills so that everyone can learn what to do in the event of a fire in that building and/or show those who don’t know what to do. Humans have an instinct that when you see someone running and they have a look of fear on their face we run with them and then find out what is going on later.
There may be task that you are wanting to learn that will benefit your life. Put your all into it so that you can fully learn it. Then you can lead others in learning it when the need arises.
“The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all”
We are born in the same way and we all will die one day. From the earth we come and back to the earth we will go. From many text written over time they all mention that we go on from this place. We all have a soul that is here on this earth and it has a mission to accomplish. I believe our ultimate mission is to live a good life and affect others in a positive way.
Do you have something in your thoughts that is urging you to do something? It may be wisdom urging you todo it. It may not be for your benefit only it may be for the benefit of many.
“Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”
Today’s Proverb carries a similar sentiment along with many other proverbs throughout the 31 chapters. Basically, we need to watch what we say to others. We cannot take back hurtful things that we let loose from our lips. In the past they were lucky enough that the common folk didn’t write to many things. They didn’t have social media accounts or the internet. If they said something, then it had to spread by mouth. They had the old saying to defend them, “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see. These days people don’t speak with their mouths as much, but wow do they write a lot and post on social media platforms for the whole world to see, along with a picture and their name right next to it. We should be careful when doing this. You will have to live with it for the rest of your life. Yes, you can delete the post, but has someone screen shot it in a quick instant when they saw it? Then it is there for the rest of eternity. After that the only way it would go away is if we hit an extreme TEOTWAWKI and every modern thing ceases to exist. How likely is that to happen? Not to likely.
Start today doing what is right with your words. Use them to encourage your fellow kind.
Side note: Concerning yesterday. My son has had some weakness in his right arm for some time now. We asked his pediatrician two years ago about it and he didn’t think too much about it. At the beginning of this year we asked some friends that are doctors and they said it should be checked out. We scheduled an appointment with a Pediatric Neurologist back and July and his appointment was, two weeks ago and they scheduled an MRI. The MRI was Wednesday, and they found a mass growing on his spinal cord in his neck. They did another MRI yesterday. This has been determined to be the cause of his weakness. The mass is slow growing and has most likely been there since birth. The reason they think this is, that he still functions like normal. If the mass was a recent development, he would have a lot more problems. His body has had time to compensate for the pressure it is producing. They don’t know what it is exactly. They must do surgery to find out what it is. They will do the surgery next week. This hit my wife and I like a ton of bricks. We ask that you continue to pray and keep your thoughts on my son. Pray for the surgeons and the team who will perform the surgery.
“Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?”
Things in life will happen that you don’t understand. There will be good things. There will be bad things. The good is excepted by all and most everyone is happy and doesn’t grumble. When the bad does happen people will sometimes grumble we should do our best to not do this.
Yesterday we found out some bad news that involved my son. I ask you to please pray for him he needs it.
“Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.”
Today I want to concentrate on the first part of this proverb. Wealth—is the abundance of valuable resources or valuable material possessions. When human beings see that you have this abundance they at first can be envious and want to take part in your over abundance. These people are not your friends. They will be super nice to you with the expectation that you will share the wealth. In time these “Not your friend” type humans will become jealous. Jealousy is an emotion; the term generally refers to the thoughts or feelings of insecurity, fear, concern, and envy over relative lack of possessions, status or something of great personal value, particularly in reference to a comparator. These humans will work their way into your life and do their best to make your life miserable. They will start making friends with your other friends. They will leave you out or plan things with a group of friends knowing that you cannot attend. With social media they will tell you that they missed you at the gathering to make you more miserable. They will point out your imperfections to others. The list goes on and on of what they will do.
As I get older I find that having a lot of friends is no longer important. Having one good friend is important though. My wife is my best friend who I share my everyday life with. If I could choose one last person to be on the earth with it would be my wife. Yes, she chastens me from time to time but it is because she loves me and wants me to be a stronger person.
A friend is someone who truly, just likes spending time with you whether you have on don’t have. They truly want you to succeed in life. They will encourage you. They will chasten you when needed.
What is your definition of a true friend? Please leave your comments below or comment on the post on the book of faces page.
“Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books – especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance everyday.— John Wooden
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
This is telling us that we must try many ways to gain wisdom. Sometimes it means that we must separate ourselves from the things that get in the way of making our lives better.
As I get older I find that the things that use to be important are not important now. One thing that use to not be important but is now is being alone. I like to wake up really early before anyone in the house wakes up. It gives me time to read and learn. I also get to drink a couple of cups of coffee and sit in my easy chair while I read.
We are only here on the 3rd rock from the sun for a short time. We have things that must be done before we move on to the next stage of life. You must find ways to gain knowledge so that it can help to complete your task, even if it means finding time to be alone.
“Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.”
Always speak the truth and you will not be made a fool of. The truth is always the easiest thing to remember. When someone ask you a question that you don’t know the answer to, then say you don’t know. If you can point them in the correct direction to who or what may have the knowledge, then do that.
We are known for what we say in life. There are times we can kid around and there are times to be serious. If all we do is kid around and poke fun, then that is what we will be known for.
A better Life
