93. That gut feeling

Proverbs 4:10

“Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.”

Today’s Proverb reminds me a lecture I once heard about the development of the human brain over time. Did you know that there are things embedded into our psyche that help protect us? Many humans have a natural fear of snakes as do a lot of other living creatures on earth. What about that gut feeling we all have when something bad is about to happen. I think this gut feeling is wisdom speaking to us. Wisdom of the past genetic crosses that have crossed since the beginning of human existence. We would all be served a lot better if we would listen more often to this gut feeling.

“There are receptors to these molecules in your immune system, in your gut and in your heart. So when you say, ‘I have a gut feeling’ or ‘my heart is sad’ or ‘I am bursting with joy,’ you’re not speaking metaphorically. You’re speaking literally.

Deepak Chopra

Trust your gut feeling. If it says run, then run. If it says maybe, then run to a safe place and investigate. If it has to happen now you might be better off by saying no.

92. Truth and Mercy

Proverbs 3:3

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart

Happy Labor Day to all of the family who are residing inside the United States. I hope that you can take the day off and celebrate the contribution of American workers to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of good old Merica.

Today’s Proverb tells us we should always be merciful to others. We should especially give mercy when it is asked for and well deserved. We should always follow and seek the truth in everything we do. Just don’t take what you hear as a fact always digest it and investigate it if possible.

91. Let wisdom save you

Proverbs 02: 10-11

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

When you learn new things, we become more self-sufficient. When you learn new things, you get to keep more money in your pocket. When you learn new things, you have more freedom. When you learn new things, you can teach others.

The more you learn the less of a chance you have to become a slave.

Remember, “Knowledge weighs nothing” but it has the ability to move mountains.

90. Be wary of the forked tongue

Proverbs 1:10

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

The world today makes us thing a lot of things are right that are not good for us. Then some years later tell us oh don’t do that anymore it will hurt you. How about the enticement of credit? It could be compare to the slave master offering you something you don’t need in exchange for part of your life,

Be strong in life. Be happy with taking only what you need. It will give you more freedom now. It will give you freedom to change your destiny also.

Don’t be enticed into slavery by them that speak with a forked tongue

89.Stand up for those who cannot stand

Proverbs 31:9

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Today’s proverb speaks to us about bullying and people making mistakes. If we see someone who is being mistreated, we should do what we can to help. Now do not go and get into a family quarrel. You may end up with the one who you are defending attacking you. The help that they may need may not come exactly when you think it is needed. It may come before hand. If you see someone getting ready to make a big mistake you should at least warn them beforehand. If you see someone after the mistake is made help them to learn from it. Boost their confidence not to make the same mistake twice. Lastly if you see someone being accused of something you know they didn’t do you must speak up. If you don’t it will make you miserable and you will be guilty of not doing anything.

88. Dont accost the consummate about their epigone

Proverbs 30:10

Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

We must be careful when making accusations of actions of those who are held in high esteem. You must be 100% sure if you are going to do so. Remember it could ruin a relationship especially if it is one of their children.

When I was a child and had done something wrong my parents new about it long before I even got home. People looked out for each other and each other’s children. Today if you see someone’s child do something wrong and you tell their parents you may be found guilty, by them, of just not liking their child. When someone accuses my child of something I try not to go into defensive mode. I find out the facts. I think back is it something I may have done and not gotten caught when I was a child. I thank them for letting me know and tell them I will handle it.

Before making accusations ask yourself, “Is this worth ruining a relationship”. We must be 100% for sure that what we saw is 100% true. Remember to “believe half of what you see and none of what you hear”.

“Accusations fit on a bumper sticker; the truth takes longer.”
Michael Haden

87. Anger is a tool of deception

Proverbs 29:8

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Wow if this proverb doesn’t speak of how the media manipulates the world today into anger I do not know what does. There is so much anger in this world today. I find myself getting angry today especially when I pay taxes. By all statistics we live in a much better world today then has ever existed outside of the garden of Eden. There is much less suffering then there has ever been. Then why is everyone angry? Well people want us this way, so we will be distracted from things that will change the temperature of the water in your pool so to speak. When your angry about the NFL players standing or not standing or acting like fools in public then you don’t care about things like politicians giving themselves raises. It almost as if they get a free pass. You may say well they had a surplus. It is common among other areas to make that much. What you are not thinking about is, the next housing market down turn and your property values go down. There may be a short fall in tax revenue coming in. They will have to raise tax rates. Then the market will recover, and your property value will go back up and you will pay more in taxes. Do you think they will lower the tax rate?

Watch out for the things in the public area’s that make you angry. Be very careful of the scorn that the media entices in you. Pay attention to what the ones who think they are gods (gooberment officials) are doing with the free pass that your anger is giving them.

Rant over.

86. Is it good or bad

Proverbs 28:10

Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

Before I write these daily wisdom post and before I record the Sunday 7 Sermon I pray for guidance and wisdom so that I don’t lead people astray. When writing about spiritual or religious things people can get offended very easy. When I get an opposing or angry reply I am very careful on how I reply and often pray for guidance to reply to the anger or opposing view.

Proverbs 28:10 tells us that we shouldn’t lead people astray. This could be in selling an inferior product claiming it is just as good. Lying and saying something is organic when it isn’t. Bending the truth to make it seem write.

There also others who have been made people to think things are bad when they are not.  Like when you do your taxes. I have a small side hustle of cattle. We raise the cattle for beef and its end means is meant for human consumption. It is by right a small business. The law allows us to right off things that helped us to make the money as an expense. People think that you are stealing from the “gooberment” when doing this. It is what businesses do every day. I must explain to them that you must spend the money to be able to write it off. You just don’t get free money back.

There are good things that society makes us think are bad. There are bad things that society has made us think are good. If you feel so inclined leave some examples in the comments. I’d love to hear from the family sometimes.

85. Misery loves company

Proverbs 27:7

“The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”

Have you ever had to someone that is hateful to you for no reason? I have. When I was younger and dealing with difficult people my mother use to always tell me that, “misery loves company”. This means that people who are not happy with their lives want everyone else around them to be miserable also. They will usually go after people who are successful.

If you appear successful and people start to bad mouth you, it may mean that they are jealous of you. Don’t let them get you down.

Try not to pay attention to those who will try to make life miserable for you. There will be a lot of those – in the official capacity as well as the self-appointed.
Joseph Brodsky
